The Church Basement Ladies in The Last Potluck Supper (2 Feet) Fireside Theatre, Ft. Atkins, WI It is 1979, the day of the church’s Centennial Celebration, and past parishioners have gathered to share hotdish, bars, and stories from the last 100 years. As the women work in the kitchen, shared memories burst into life through a series of flashbacks. Travel back to 1897 and meet Vivian’s grandmother; see Karin as a newlywed cautiously navigating the politics of the kitchen; and be there in 1944 when Mavis first barreled her way through the door. The Centennial Celebration is bittersweet. Times are touch in this small farm community, and hard decisions will have to be made. Select one entrée from a choice of Braised pork belly, supreme cut chicken breast, Thai grilled shrimp or vegetarian Cacciatore. Fee includes lunch, ticket and motor coach transportation. Botanical Garden Luncheon Calling all garden lovers… Join us as Yvonne Wolf presents on East Asian Gardens. Discover Confucian symbolism expressed in gardens and how they are used to relieve stress and cultivate inner peace. Learn the cultural history of the East Asian Garden and its carefully composed scenes of ponds, paths, and pavilions. Yvonne will use examples from the Japanese Garden at the Chicago Botanic Garden and Ping Tom Park in Chicago Chinatown. You’ll have a greater understanding and appreciation of East Asian gardens.
