Join the ranks of famous Dragon Riders like Hiccup, Eragon, and Pete! Learn the science of dragon flight and discover the secret of dragon fire. Design your dragon riding attire and hone your dragon’s fighting skills. Create a dragon friend to take home as you learn to be a Dragon Master! Camp participants at Maine Park or Wildwood camps will be walked to Dragon Trainers by a counselor. Bus transportation is limited to camps that attend Maine Park After Care. Attendees who are not in a camp or who are in a camp that doesn't attend Maine Park After Care will need to find their own transportation to class.

Interested in summer camps ? Join us for a Virtual Camp Info Night to learn more about what summer camp options are available at the Park Ridge Park District. During the info night, a panel of staff will cover how to register for our programs along with registration dates, general camp information, camp options for the different age groups, and more. Please register one family member to receive an email with the meeting link for the Virtual Camp Info Night. The meeting link will be emailed out the day of the meeting.

Sections & Details

We offer supervised transportation from our Before Care program to District 64 summer school location. Please note that this service is only available for 8:30am start classes. Once the Before Care program fills, staff is unable to accommodate additional participants due to space restrictions. Participants must be registered in S.S.O. Camp Rewind, S.S.O. Nature Camp Youngers or Olders, and S.S.O. Teen Trail Blazers in order to enroll for the Before Care Shuttle option. PLEASE NOTE: For campers registered for SSO Nature Camps, SSO Camp Rewind, or SSO Teen Trail Blazers, this is the Before Care with Transportation location ONLY. Pick up for these campers will be from their camp location at 3pm or from their aftercare location if registered for aftercare. There is no summer school on Jun 8, Jun 12, Jun 19, Jun 26, & Jul 3; before care locations will be at Maine Park for SSO Nature, SSO Teen Trail Blazers, & Camp Rewind.

Before Care includes low-key activities like free play, board games, art, and movies. Before Care is held at Centennial Park and staff accompanies campers to their camp sites by walking. Registration is for Monday-Friday, but can be prorated for campers attending 2 or 3-day camps. Please contact Maine Park at 847-692-5127 for any scheduling adjustments. Before Care is not available for all camps. Please look for the Before Care symbols to know if this option is available for your camp. Please note: This option of Before Care is ONLY for campers registered for Sports Camp, Camp Rewind, SSO Camp Rewind, Teen Trail Blazers, SSO Teen Trail Blazers, or Art Extravaganza.
