Registration Programs

Seasonally, we offer a wide variety of programs for adults. All programs, including programs titled as S.T.A.R., are available for members and non-members. Members receive a discounted rate. View the current programs for seniors and adults below.

Weekly S.T.A.R. Activities

There is always something happening with the S.T.A.R. members. All week long you can find fitness classes, table tennis, Reader's Theatre, art classes, and more. In addition, clubs for all interests are held monthly. For our current activities and club meeting schedules, refer to the most recent Park District brochure or S.T.A.R. Connections Newsletter.

S.T.A.R. has clubs for every interest. Many of these groups are offered at no charge and any individual 55 years or older is invited to attend.

Trips and Events

Trips are offered at least twice monthly to various destinations! Stop in to pick up a copy of the monthly newsletter at the Centennial Activity Center or download this season's current events.

Beginning Mah Jongg Discover the exciting game of Mah Jongg and learn in a fun, relaxed setting. This class will introduce you to the tiles, basic moves, how to choose a hand, the progression of play, and strategies. Gameplay taught will be based on the American Standard Way. Intermediate Mah Jongg This class is designed for players who already understand the basic rules of play, have had some experience playing the game, and emphasizes strategies and techniques designed to sharpen your skills, improve your game and to play more defensively. This mat yoga class will focus on building strength, agility, balance and flexibility. This is a more active class for seniors that includes floor, seated, and standing postures. Participants must be able to get up and down from the floor on their own. Instructor: Jodi Fedoruk. CAC

Combine mindfulness practices with yoga movements and breath work that will help you find strength, flexibility and balance. Tuesday class incorporates seated and standing poses using a chair and mat. Thursday class is entirely on a chair. All experience levels are welcome. Please bring your own mat. This exercise class utilizes the Pelvicore Pro, weights, and bands to improve total body function. Core training and balance reaction is emphasized! This class is mainly chair based, but also includes exercises standing and with chair support, depending on modifications needed for participants. Instructor: Tina Christie. CAC

Seated Pelvic Core-Flexibility This functional movement class strengthens and lengthens your muscles to improve total body function, utilizing the Pelvicore Pro and thera-bands for mobility, stability, and flexibility. Class is chair based, but may include standing with chair support, depending on modifications needed for participants. CAC

4230616 / STAR Balance Burst

This class is a combination of balance and flexibility training with a "burst" of resistance and cardio training to enhance better balance and movement. The class is designed for those that prefer a workout without the added impact to joints. A portion includes basic aerobic movements performed while either sitting or standing. No class July 4. CAC

4230617 / STAR Sculpt & Stretch

This 45-minute class combines the use of free weights to strengthen, resistance bands to lengthen, and stretching to increase flexibility. Warm-up consists of light stretching and low cardio to prep the muscles and joints. Next 30 minutes of resistance training using resistance bands and dumbbells to strengthen and further sculpt the muscles, followed by gentle stretching for a complete cool-down. Instructor: Pamela Bruno. CAC

A seated exercise class utilizing gentle stretches to improve all core, posture, bone density and balance. Use of light resistance bands and balls may be included for added optional intensity. Instructor: Michele Crump. No class July 3. CAC

Try out restaurants near or far, and leave the driving to us! Each month we visit a different restaurant, and you get to choose what you order. Your cost simply includes the price of transportation, and the meal cost is on your own. If you wish to meet at the restaurant please let the front desk know. If there is a waitlist please feel free to still sign up. Waitlisted individuals are listed in numerical order and are given the opportunity to register when there is a cancellation. S.T.A.R. Adventure Camp You are never too old to go to camp! Embark on a summer adventure with an adult twist. Transportation and admission are included for each day. If you register by July 1 you will receive a free Adventure Camp t-shirt! Registration deadline: August 4. Hydroponic Farm Tour, Tasting & Domes (2 Feet) Step inside Wisconsin’s largest urban hydroponic farm where year-round growing occurs with weekly harvests of the freshest leafy greens, herbs and specialty artisanal sauces. The tour and tasting will include a program with Chris Corkery, Founder & CEO, who will share his vision for this indoor farm, an intro to hydroponic farming and connection to community through the power of fresh food. Enjoy a chef prepared meal featuring greens grown on site. Dine on basil-tomato gnocchi and Hundred Acre’s endless summer salad. Freshly harvested products will also be available for sale from the farm. Gobble up a delicious Thanksgiving lunch of Roasted Natural Turkey, cornbread stuffing, classic mashed potatoes and gravy, garden salad, and green bean casserole. 5230202 / S.T.A.R. AARP Driver's Class

This eight-hour, two-day course is for motorists age 55 and older. It focuses on the physical changes that accompany aging and on ways older adult drivers can compensate for these changes to improve their driving skills. After taking this course you will be eligible for a multi-year discount on your car insurance! Fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-AARP members to be paid on the first day of class to AARP.
