Prospect Park

Park Information

In 2012, the Park Ridge Park District was approached with the unique opportunity to acquire the land now known as Prospect Park. In April 2013, the Park District successfully passed a referendum to acquire and develop the 11.35 acre property formally known as The Youth Campus. Prospect Park opened in May 2016 featuring a variety of recreational amenities for the community. The Paula Hassell O’Connor Community Building located at Prospect Park is named in honor of a long-time resident in recognition of a generous financial donation to the District.

The property remains listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its social history and architecture. The first cottage built here in 1908, named after Hannah Greenebaum Solomon, remains on the property and now, under a long-term lease agreement, is home to the Park Ridge Historical Society. Additionally, the Emery Building remains preserved on the property. This cottage was originally named after the Chicago Woman’s Club of which Jane Addams was an active member.
