On the evening of September 19, the Park District celebrated the recent upgrades at Hinkley Park with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Park Board Commissioners, staff, and community members gathered to mark the improvements, which include a new playground, a new picnic pavilion with cornhole boards, ADA-accessible pathways, batting tunnels, a resurfaced basketball court, a rain garden for stormwater management, and an expanded Hinkley Community Garden.
These enhancements were made possible with the help of a $400,000 Open Space Land Acquisition Grant and a $150,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. We are grateful for the support of Senator Robert Martwick and Senator Laura Murphy, who played a key role in securing these vital funds.
If you haven't yet had the opportunity, we encourage you to visit Hinkley Park and explore all the new features it has to offer!
